Justin Whittenbarger holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master of Arts in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN. His Ed.S. degree is in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. He spent sixteen years as a high school ELA teacher before accepting an administrative role as Assistant Principal at Homestead Elementary School in 2015. Thirteen of those sixteen years in the classroom were spent serving the students of Cumberland County. Mr. Whittenbarger has taught at each grade level in a secondary setting and also worked as an independent contractor for the Tennessee Department of Education as a Common Core Coach during 2013-2014 and again in 2015. His role as a state contractor included traveling to various parts of Tennessee to train teachers about the new standards, strategies to improve and help students be successful, and changes in state assessments. After two years at Homestead, he was named Principal at Stone Elementary. Mr. Whittenbarger brings past business experience into his role at Stone Elementary, and he was also named as part of the second cohort of the highly competitive GASL (Governor's Academy for School Leadership) program in the state of Tennessee during 2016-2017.
Vice Principal: Mary Jane Allen
Mary Jane Allen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts Degree in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Tech University. She is currently completing her Ed.S. degree in Instructional Leadership, also from Tennessee Technological University. Mrs. Allen began her teaching career serving the students of Cumberland County Schools. She spent twenty-three years as a classroom teacher, Language Arts Coordinator, and an Instructional Coach supporting teachers in both urban and rural districts in Ohio and Tennessee before accepting an administrative role as Assistant Principal at Stone Elementary School. Mrs. Allen has worked as a virtual learning teacher and as an independent contractor for the Tennessee Department of Education examining state testing and educator preparation programs. Mrs. Allen is a State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE) Fellow and an educational speaker. She brings a wealth of knowledge to Stone Elementary School in curriculum and leadership.
